Steve Gross, Vice President
Steven Gross joined the United States Army in 1984. After completing basic, infantry, and parachute training at Fort Benning, Georgia, he was assigned to the 3/325 82nd Airborne Division. He initially served in B Company, but after additional training he was selected to serve in the Headquarters Company Recon Platoon. Over the course of the 6 years that Steven served in 3/325 the unit was garrisoned first at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and then rotated to Caserma Ederle, Vicenza Italy.
After leaving active duty in 1990, Steven joined the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy sheriff. He served as a jail deputy, patrol deputy, field training officer, detective, sergeant, lieutenant, captain, commander, division chief, and assistant sheriff. When Steven retired in 2022 he was in command of the 23 Sheriff Stations that provide law enforcement services to 42 contract cities and 125 unincorporated communities of Los Angeles County.
While a member of the Sheriff’s Department, Steven continued his military service after being recruited by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations for reserve duty. He completed training as a special agent at Andrews Air Force Base and served as an individual mobilization augmentee. Steven was assigned to multiple units where he conducted and later supervised criminal, fraud, and counterintelligence investigations. During his career Steven, had the opportunity to deploy in support of the Global War on Terrorism, Operations Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. Steven served in several leadership positions to include detachment superintendent, special agent in charge, and region superintendent obtaining the rank of chief master sergeant until his retirement from military reserve service in 2013.
Steven has an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Community College of the Air Force, a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from American Military University, and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from American Military University.
Steven has been married to his wife Rebecca for 35 years, who is also a veteran. They met in a military leadership school in Bad Tolz Germany and married soon after. They have 3 adult children all who have chosen to go into military and/or public service. Steven is proud to be a member of Roll Call and honored to serve fellow military veterans.
