Vietnam Veteran Dave Roever speaks at Roll Call Luncheon Fort Worth January 2023

Our first Roll Call Luncheon for the new year was held on the 27th of January at Birchman Baptist Church and it was an enormous success. We had well over 450 veterans and family members in attendance to enjoy each other’s fellowship and hear Vietnam Veteran Dave Roever speak. Dave had an amazing story of survival and perseverance that was an emotional and inspiring tale, with just the right amount of humor mixed in. His is an awe inspiring journey and you can watch it on our videos page here (have some tissues handy)! We enjoyed yet another wonderful meal provided by Brenda and her amazing kitchen staff; all served to our veterans by the wonderful volunteers who assist every month.  We celebrated WWII Veteran Al Chatwin’s 97th birthday and we heard from the Navy Fleet and Family Readiness Center on NAS JRB Fort Worth who thanked us for our donations this past holiday season. Our Roll Call members provided enough food and dry goods to keep them supplied for quite some time. Veterans helping veterans!! We also held another Vietnam Veteran pinning ceremony for those Vietnam Veterans who had yet to receive their pin and 50th anniversary certificate. We pinned another 49 veterans this year!  We started off the year with a bang and look forward to another great year of Roll Call luncheons!

Dave Roever, Guest Speaker

Dave Roever is a recipient of the Purple Heart and other service medals. At the height of the Vietnam War, he joined the U. S. Navy and served as a river boat gunner in the elite Brown Water Black Beret — until tragedy occurred. His survival and ensuing life are miraculous, with his late wife Brenda faithfully at his side for 53 years. Now a superb multi-generational communicator, Dave Roever travels the globe, speaking in large national conventions and public schools, and providing training to the US military, including war zones. He shares his gripping story with engaging humor, imparting hope in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles, and exemplifying resiliency. Mr. Roever is no stranger to the war on terror, having taken his message to US troops in Kosovo, Afghanistan, Cypress, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and in Iraq – during multiple cross-country tours. Mr. Roever inspires, challenges, and instructs. Dave Roever and his team reach out to the people of Vietnam and other nations, through multiple projects. Since 2007, at the organization’s two Eagles Summit Ranches near Westcliffe, Colorado, and near Junction, Texas, Dave Roever and his team help to restore hope, provide keys for success, and train today’s wounded or stressed warriors to have meaningful futures, through Operation Warrior RECONnect.
